Volunteers Needed
Are you an experienced Zoom user?
This year, since everything is online, we need volunteers who are experienced with Zoom, to support workshops, jams and hangout sessions. All volunteers should know how to host a Zoom session, monitor chat, and be able to provide basic troubleshooting. The idea is for the workshop instructor or jam leader to be able to concentrate on teaching and not have to manage anything technical with zoom.
Technical support may include
-
Knowing how to mute participants who forget
-
Helping participants with audio to ensure the volume is enabled or audio button is enabled
-
Providing directions to break out rooms and spaces
We will be offering a training session prior to the festival, to walk through volunteer co-host roles and responsibilities.
As a volunteer you will get free admission to a workshop of your choice (nontransferable). Volunteering as a workshop co-host means being dedicated to technical support during your assigned session.
Volunteer Roles
Workshop Co-Host
Supports our workshop hosts to ensure as smooth a technical experience as possible. Co-hosts will log in 15 minutes before the workshop start time and will end after the session has concluded. Co-hosts must commit to staying with the workshop as long as the instructor keeps going (up to 1/2 hour after the end time).
Co-hosts of workshops won’t be able to devote 100% of their attention to the workshop, so please let us know which workshop(s) you might want to attend, and that way we will NOT assign you to co-host those workshops. A complete list of workshops is at https://www.berkeleyoldtimemusic.org/workshops
Jam Co-Host
Supports our jam hosts to ensure as smooth a technical experience as possible. Co-hosts will log in 15 minutes before the jam start time and will end after the session has concluded. Co-hosts must commit to staying with the jam as long as the leader keeps going.
Co-hosts can participate in the jam but should work with the jam leader and be prepared to support with any technical difficulties as needed.
Hangout Co-Host
Supports our zoom hang out spot to ensure as smooth a technical experience as possible. Hang out support will log in 15 minutes before hangout starts and will direct folks to breakout rooms. Co-hosts must commit to staying for the hangout period but do not need to be fully engaged the entire time.
Co-hosts get into one workshop (that they are not co-hosting) for free.
