Old-time Banjo with
Nancy Sluys ((Pilot Mountain Bobcats): Nancy will be teaching
clawhammer banjo tunes from Surry County, NC and Galax, VA areas
including techniques learned from Kyle Creed. LISTEN. Primitive Baptist Singing
with Ginny Hawker: Learn unaccompanied sacred songs in the powerful,
archaic-sounding style of the Primitive Baptist Church; Ginny grew up
singing these songs with her father in church. This beautiful
old-fashioned mountain style of singing is at the root of the style of
great mountain singers like Ginny, Ralph Stanley and Hazel
Dickens. Open Jam Session led by Jim Mueller & Amber Roullard Mueller - free admission - all are welcome!! 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Old-time Fiddle
with Mike Bryant: Mike will be teaching some tunes in standard and
alternative tunings. Tunes will be taught phrase by phrase
with attention to bowing. Teaching will be by ear so a recorder
is recommended. Open Jam Session led by Harry Liedstrand - free admission - all are welcome!!
